My name is Annika.

I'm a sustainable energy engineer specialising in carbon markets, climate finance, and sustainable energy. I work with governments, development partners, investors, and businesses to accelerate climate action and energy access across Sub-Saharan Africa.

I help organisations navigate the rapidly evolving carbon market landscape, from early-stage strategy through to project development and implementation.

Climate Finance

I support organisations in identifying, evaluating, and mobilising climate finance for projects that deliver measurable climate and sustainable development impacts.

Sustainable Energy

I work across clean cooking, renewable energy, electric mobility, and productive use of energy to support the transition to low-carbon energy systems.

Climate Policy

I support governments and development partners in developing policies, regulatory frameworks, and strategies that enable effective climate action.

Capacity Building & Facilitation

I design and deliver training, workshops, and knowledge products that strengthen technical capacity and support informed decision-making.

About

About Me

I hold a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Konstanz and a M.Sc. in Sustainable Energy Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim.

Over the past eight years, I have specialised in carbon markets, climate finance, and sustainable energy, working with governments, development partners, investors, NGOs, and private companies across Sub-Saharan Africa. My work spans carbon project development, climate policy, investment readiness, impact assessment, and capacity building, with a particular focus on translating complex technical challenges into practical solutions.

Originally from Germany, I have lived in Finland, Ecuador, Türkiye, Malawi, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, and Tanzania. These experiences have shaped the way I work, giving me a strong appreciation for different perspectives and the importance of building trusted partnerships across cultures. I work in English, German, and Spanish, and also speak Danish, Turkish, French, and Swahili to varying degrees.

When I'm not working, you'll probably find me hiking, cycling, kayaking, experimenting in the kitchen, or reading magical realism.
